Question: Do you charge VAT for orders placed online?
Answer:
Any applicable taxes will be automatically added to your order at the time of checkout, according to your local tax laws.
VAT & GST
If you are a resident of the European Union (EU), Japan, Switzerland, Iceland, New Zealand or some other countries, any applicable VAT (Value Added Tax) will automatically be added to your order at time of checkout. Residents of Singapore are charged GST (Goods & Services Tax) at time of checkout, instead of VAT.
The European Union issued a directive in 2002 establishing that digital services should collect VAT from customers who reside, have a permanent address, or are established in the European Union. In accordance with the laws governing members of the European Union, we are obliged to charge VAT on all orders delivered to destinations in member countries of the EU. In general, VAT is charged in accordance with the local legislation in each member state. You will be able to see your final price inclusive of applicable VAT before you confirm your order, when you have completed your order details (including your delivery address).
If you live in a non-EU country, VAT charges may or may not be added to your order, depending on the country of destination. It may also have a different name.
VAT ID
The VAT ID is a tax number, assigned by the government of each country that charges VAT, to a business in that country. This number may be used to avoid paying VAT at point-of-sale. You may choose to enter the VAT ID if you have one. If provided, and the number is valid, VAT will not be collected at the time of purchase. Different countries have their own guidelines about who may obtain a VAT ID number. Please contact your local tax authority or tax adviser for more information.
